Lady Clay (Agate)

Lady Clay is made using the Agate. Agate clay is made from adding pigments and oxides to dry clay then hydrating it, mixing and wedging clay together. Each section has an intense amount of oxide or stain which gives it such beautiful colouration. I liken it to the Earth`s crust with all the forces of nature surging into layers of geology. The shape is cut and sculpted using a cheese wire tool fired to 1000oC then sanded to reveal the soft hidden colours and forms beneath.  I have added images from the different stages of making and firing for a more rounded understanding of the porcess.    14cm x 15cm x 6cm
