About the event

Feet in Clay, Hands in Mud is a very special workshop about relaxation, taking time out, connecting to the earth and grounding yourself, run by Francesca King Ceramics and Alice Maynard, The Outside In. Come and celebrate June’s full supermoon with us on the evening of Tuesday 14th, surrounded by the greenery of the studio space on Holgate Road.

The evening will consist of two parts. Firstly, Francesca will guide you through her Feet In Clay Therapy, which combines deep breath work, promoting the use of clay as a stimulating release and aiding wellbeing. Your feet will be encased in clay and moulded into clay slippers while you enjoy a 1:1 session of relaxation, grounding breath and energy work. You will then have time to personalise your slippers, making imprints using objects found in local nature. Francesca will take your clay work away after the session to be bisque fired, and then fired once more with a glaze. (Your slippers will be ready to be collected from The Outside In from 8th July).

After enjoying a break with refreshments, you will then move on to the second phase of the evening: from your feet to your hands! Alice will teach you all about the art of making Kokedamas. Kokedama is an ancient method of binding a plants roots in clay and soil, finishing with a soft green outer layer of flat moss, so that the plant can grow without the need of a pot. You will be guided through the sensory experience of having your hands in mud, gently handling plants and their roots. After creating a mud root ball, you will then wrap it up in lovely fluffy moss, binding the shape together with string. You will have enough time to make 2 Kokedamas to take home with you. (Your Kokedamas could then be displayed at home on your glazed ceramic slippers!)

This lovely collaborative workshop will last approximately 3 hours. All the materials and refreshments will be provided, you just need to bring yourself along to relax and enjoy.

If you fancy treating yourself, or someone you love, to this very special supermoon session, book your ticket now as spaces are limited to just four people.
